For my final project with the Gunner School, I was tasked with working in a group of my classmates to tell any story we wanted within a 15-30 second time frame; needless to say, we ended up really bending the rules to churn out this minute-plus masterpiece.
My teammate Leilani originated the idea of a cloud going on a "Secret Life of Walter Mitty"-type journey, although she and everyone else later admitted that they had never seen the film. I suggested that the cloud should instead go on an identity journey to discover the beauty of its "true self," and we ended up rolling with that.
Besides creating the storyboards that would make up much of the animatic, I was in charge of animating the middle scene where the hero cloud tries to mimic all the more shaplier clouds it comes across. Clouds being clouds, I gave everything a subtle, fluffy motion to communicate that we are indeed in a floating world here. Additionally, I supplied the subtle animated textures for the cloud and the backgrounds.
